The Survivor Caucus has formed a speakers’ bureau. We want
to make our stories public, to “put a face” to the statistics so often
presented to the public but not really felt.
By sending out a group of trained speakers,
men and women who call themselves "thriving
survivors," we can accurately and fully portray
the human impact of violence and its toll in
trauma and recovery. We can raise public awareness
about the breadth and depth of damage done to
individuals and their families by perpetrators of
sexual abuse and assault and by domestic violence.
As important, we can show other Virginians
who have suffered traumatic violence that recovery
is possible and survivors can thrive.
We hope that our presentations will help us gain allies to
support the Survivor Caucus and Action Alliance missions.
Anyone interested in being a speaker for the Survivor Caucus
or inviting a speaker to present at a meeting or event should contact
our Bureau coordinator, speakers@survivorcaucusva.org.
